Police are reminding local residents to check the credentials of cold callers after a report of bogus callers in Herne Bay.

At around midday on 1st February, two men called at a house in Selsea Avenue offering to replace guttering.

An eagle eyed neighbour has helped minimise the damage to a ground floor flat in Hoath after it caught fire on the morning of Monday 5th February.

The neighbour saw smoke coming from a window of the property in Church Road, and immediately called the fire brigade. Kent Fire And Rescue sent three fire engines to investigate just before 11:30am.

Kent Police have charged a man with two burglaries, the most recent of which took place in Herne bay.

On Saturday (3rd February) at around 6:30pm, cash and a wallet were stolen from a house in Ashburn Gardens occupied by elderly residents.

The caravan park where Richard Kray strangled his daughter

A Herne Bay man has been sentenced for strangling his daughter to death and attempting to murder his ex-wife.

On the morning of Tuesday 18th July 2017, Richard Kray collected his 19-year-old daughter Olivia from her home in Herne Bay so she could stay with him at his caravan in Westlands Caravan Park.

Police have located a 78-year-old man from Greenhill, Herne Bay after concerns for his welfare. 


Raghbir Singh was reported missing on Wednesday 13th December, and police commenced a search of the Greenhill area and an appeal for any information.

Car being broken into

Kent Police have issued a warning to motorists in the area to ensure they keep their valuables secure following a spate of reported thefts.

Police have had reports of a number of cars being broken into in the Clowes Wood and Thornden Wood areas over the last few weeks, where thieves have reportedly made off with cash and bank cards after causing damage to the vehicles to gain entry.

Herne Bay mosaic

Sir Roger Gale has officially unveiled the Herne Bay Mosaic in an event that took place at the foot of the clock tower.

The mosaic has been funded by the Big Lottery Fund and local artist Rob Turner designed and installed the artwork, which depicts various local places of interest.

A man has been arrested following a police pursuit through Herne Bay. 

Martin Airey

A burglar from Herne Bay has been found guilty of carrying out two break ins in the town. 

Martin Airey (49), of Queen Street, Herne Bay, broke into a property in Daytona Way on 5th June this year and left empty handed when confronted by the 80-year-old occupier in the living room.

Herne Bay’s firefighters have once again been called into action after a fire broke out at a café in Richmond Street, Herne Bay.
